The consumerism of our culture and my Christian faith often leave me pondering … “When is enough … enough?” We’re bombarded with advertisements and social pressures to have more, to have something bigger and better. Often times, when we do not have the latest style, the newest model, the larger home and the newer car, it leaves us feeling like we do not have enough.
I believe it’s great to enjoy the good things in life, which have different definitions for nearly each one of us.

I was encouraged to read the news story that Ted Turner’s United Nations Foundation is joining efforts with the United Methodist Church and Lutheran World Relief to raise $200 million to fight malaria.

Ok, this is nuts. I know it has been all over the news but I am really surprised that there isn’t more of a public outcry over this sort of nonsense.
Clearly this is a police agency in the United States squelching somebody and their opinion. Is this freedom of speech?

Tonight we had a great conversation with Aneh Mundi who is the owner of Aneh’s Internationally Inspired Specialty Foods and Gifts.
We talked about her path to living in the United States from Cameroon some 15 years ago.
In addition to being a really talented chef and entrepreneur Aneh has a heart for AIDS sufferers in Africa and speaks passionately to groups around the United States on the subject.

I want to invite you and your friends to join in on the conversation on Episode11 of Humble O Radio.
It happens on Tuesday August 14, 2007 @ 7:30PM Eastern.
We’ll be talking about FORGIVENESS.
Ghandi said that “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute ofthe strong.”
Forgiveness is essential to the Christian faith.
The Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth…
2Cr 2:4 How painful it was to write that letter! Heartbroken, I cried over it. I didn’t want to hurt you, but I wanted you to know how very much I love you.
2Cr 2:5 I am not overstating it when I say that the man who caused all the trouble hurt your entire church more than he hurt me.
2Cr 2:6 He was punished enough when most of you were united in your judgment against him.
2Cr 2:7 Now it is time to forgive him and comfort him. Otherwise he may become so discouraged that he won’t be able to recover.
2Cr 2:8 Now show him that you still love him.
- Are there some things that can’t be forgiven?
- Are there things, sins, crimes, actions, attitudes that shouldn’t be forgiven?
- What experiences have you had with forgiveness?
- Have you ever needed to be forgiven by someone else?
- What was your reaction to their approach?
- Have you ever had to go forgive someone who was totally clueless that they had hurt you?
- Has anyone ever trivialized or been offended by your seeking of or granting of forgiveness?
