Some time ago I wrote a piece entitled Who Says What’s Christian Music? in which I briefly examined the sad fact that the actual content of music has little to nothing to do with what is actually classified as “Christian” and “secular” music. Artists like Sufjan Stevens openly express their faith with artistic excellence but won’t be purchased in your local Christian bookstore because they dont play the marketing game. Meanwhile, Phillips, Craig and Dean, who openly deny the orthodox view of the Trinity are in every “Christian” bookstore because they do play the marketing game. Marketing rather than content determines what you can buy and where you can buy it.

The Door and Brian McLaren

Brian McLaren was interviewed by The Wittenburg Door and he was asked, “…how do we reclaim the term “Christian evangelical” so it can have a positive connotation again?”

To which he responded

“I think we need to go back to what Jesus said, “Let your light shine before humanity and they’ll see your good works and glorify God the Father.” We need to invest more of our energy in the doing of good works and less in this “culture wars” rhetoric because our world is in crisis, and we need a whole lot more good works about now, and a whole lot less talk.”

Spreading the word about Humble O Radio is A HUGE HELP. Here are a few suggestions.

  • If you have friends that you think might enjoy Humble O Radio - please take a moment to send them an email telling them about our LIVE Program and our website.
  • Create a post on an appropriate web forum that you are a member of. This is a great way to spread the word.
  • If you use social networkings sites such as MySpace, FaceBook, ShoutLife, HisHolySpace, MyChurch or ANY OTHER sort of site, you can place a banner on your page or even embed a player so your friends and visitors can listen to archived episodes of the show directly from your page.

  • Print off one of our fliers. Make copies and distribute at your church with the bulletin, pass out fliers at community fairs, gatherings, concerts, etc.
  • Host a Humble O Radio Listening Party, invite friends and neighbors over to your house, church or to your favorite coffeehouse with WiFi, listen to the show on your computer and then discuss the topics of the show further.
